Yep. Now unlike anime I don't think that striking someone in the solar plexus will be an immediate KO, but it can still get the job done if you're just looking to disable a regular person with no combat training.

Yep, it can disorient you for a few seconds, for sure. You're left gasping for air, like a fish. (speaking from experience, unfortunately)

I like these bits of trivia at the end of each episode about the Rakugo featured by the performers. Also, props to the VA for being able to pull it off.
